Union Hill Inn is located in the scenic California Gold Country, with its
rich Gold Rush history, lakes, rivers and streams, and golf courses.
We're just north of downtown Sonora, which has museums, restaurants, and
shops.
Very nearby is downtown Columbia which has been restored to what it was in Gold Rush days
circa 1858 and has restaurants, rides on a historic stagecoach, and live
theatre.
Across the Stanislaus River is Murphys,
another historic town with 18 wine tasting rooms in the downtown area and
more at the surrounding wineries.
South of us is the historic town of Jamestown, with its Victorian era downtown and, a few blocks away, Railtown 1897, a California State Historic Park, where, May-October and some
winter holidays, you can ride a steam train.  We are also about
15 miles away from Black Oak Casino.
Further up the mountain on Highway 108 are the mountain towns of
Twain Harte and Mi Wuk Village, located in
a pine, fir, and cedar tree forest.  Continuing east is the Pinecrest Lake area, with fishing, boating, hiking, and a sandy beach.

It is also a day trip to Yosemite National Park on Highway 120.
